The association

GROW-FOREST is a non-profit organization based in Vienna that is passionately dedicated to the protection and restoration of European forests.

Our vision is ambitious: To plant one billion new trees in Europe. But we think ahead – because real change can only happen together. That is why we work closely with regional companies, committed investors and political initiatives to initiate sustainable reforestation projects and to preserve and protect existing forests.

Through targeted participations and investments, we not only offer our partners the opportunity to actively contribute to climate protection – but also to reduce their carbon footprint in a long-term and transparent manner.

Every tree we plant is a living symbol of hope, responsibility and the future. With international and regional projects and a strong network, we are actively shaping a healthy, liveable environment.

The pillars of GROW FOREST

Taking responsibility - securing land, preserving forests

GROW FOREST buys reforestation areas and keeps them permanently in its own possession. In this way, we ensure that the resulting forests survive in the long term – regardless of economic interests or utilization pressure. This decision is our clear commitment to active nature conservation.

Promoting diversity - creating stable ecosystems

Instead of monocultures, we plant species-rich mixed forests with native deciduous and coniferous trees as well as selected precious woods. This targeted diversity strengthens ecological stability and creates habitats for animals, insects and plants. Slow-growing tree species with a long lifespan also find space in this way – and develop their ecological value over generations.

Developing forests - giving back habitat

After the purchase, we start planting young trees. In the following years, we intensively maintain and support the forest – with protective measures and targeted replanting. After up to ten years, we leave it to nature: a freely accessible habitat for wild animals, plants – and for people who want to discover it with care.

Cooperation with regional experts

We work closely with regional partners on site for each of our projects. We rely on the experience and knowledge of local foresters, authorities and the scientific support of local universities and colleges.

Even before planting, we start with a thorough site analysis: soil samples are taken and evaluated by regional specialist institutes to determine the right mix of tree species for the respective climatic and ecological conditions. In close coordination with foresters and authorities, a site-specific reforestation plan is developed that is ecologically sound and stable in the long term.

We obtain the seedlings exclusively from the respective regions in which the reforestation takes place. The planting helpers are also from the region – this not only strengthens the ecological balance, but also promotes the local economy.

Our reforestation begins with careful soil preparation and ends with the planting of several million trees. But our commitment does not end when the first shoots are planted: the subsequent long-term care and maintenance of the forest creates permanent, skilled jobs. In this way, every planting makes an ecological and socio-economic contribution to the region – today, tomorrow and for future generations.
